Our Target Species

Panama City is famous for its rich fishing grounds. Every cast holds the potential for an unforgettable catch. Below are the headliners we target, plus a month by month look at what is biting.

Red Snapper

Peak: Jun to Aug (peak)

A striking, robust fish with vibrant rose colored scales and large eyes. Prized for its fight on the rod and its reputation at the table.

Mahi Mahi

Peak: May to Sep (peak)

Also called dolphinfish. Electric blue and gold with a square head, mahi are fast growing acrobats that explode out of the water when they hit.

King Mackerel

Peak: Apr to Oct

Torpedo shaped and silvery blue. Kings are hard fighting predators that make screaming runs when hooked on a trolled bait.

Spanish Mackerel

Peak: Mar to Nov

Swift, agile, and aggressive. Spanish put up a spirited fight on light tackle and are a blast to troll up just outside the pass.

Wahoo

Peak: Jun to Sep (peak)

Long, sleek, and razor toothed. Wahoo are known for explosive bursts of speed that can empty a reel in seconds.

Vermillion Snapper

Peak: Apr to Oct

A deepwater snapper with a brilliant red top fading to silver below. A reliable bottom fish and excellent eating.

Bonita

Peak: Year round

Also known as little tunny or false albacore. A strong, fast tuna relative that pulls hard and makes excellent cut bait.

Triggerfish

Peak: Mar to May

A diamond shaped reef fish with strong jaws and beautiful coloration. A challenge to hook and a real treat to eat.
